The Car Club of the Month for August 2010 is:

Mustang Club of Central Iowa (MCCI): Keep the Mustang "Pony" Car Running Strong
The Mustang "Pony" car was introduced by Ford in 1964. It quickly became a favorite among millions of sports car lovers and remains a true automobile legend today. One club that's waving the Mustang banner high is the Mustang Club of Central Iowa (MCCI). MCCI makes owning a Mustang (or any Ford) fun by introducing its members to many exciting events throughout the year. The club welcomes all years of Mustangs and Fords, and does not require ownership to become a member.
MCCI was founded in September 1979 as a non-profit organization, and is the largest and oldest Mustang club in the state of Iowa. It is based in Des Moines, Iowa and most monthly meetings are held in Des Moines or Altoona. The club now has more than 200 members and growing. MCCI is a region of the Mustang Club of America. Club elected officers include a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and several board members. MCCI provides a number of services to its members, including technical information and the opportunity to exchange ideas about Mustangs or other Ford automobiles.
Members' interests in Mustangs vary from racing to restoration to just plain driving, so the club keeps a variety of activities going around the year to help every member find true enjoyment. For membership, the club offers an inexpensive family membership, which includes an MCCI window sticker, a monthly newsletter, a club roster, and other great benefits. A membership application is available at the club's website. The newsletter keeps members up to date on events, and it features written columns and classified ads. Members may advertise in the newsletter free of charge.
MCCI Activities and Shows
Each June, the club hosts an Annual Mustang Club of Central Iowa Car Show & Swap Meet. This show is open to all Ford-powered automobiles. There are MCA-judged classes and 38 popular vote classes so everyone can participate. The show also features commercial and private vendors, a Pony corral, and t-shirts. MCCI also has an annual Spring Road Rally, monthly meetings for members, an Annual Chili Feed, poker runs, picnics, a steak fry in September, MCCI Cruise Nights, and fabulous road trips.
Members may also participate in other events locally and abroad such as the Indianola Bike Night Mustang Car Show in June, the MCCI Club Dyno Day in June, the Mid-America Ford & Team Shelby Nationals in June, the Southern Iowa Mustang Club Car Show, and the NQS Performance Autocross.
Those who wish to join and start celebrating their favorite cars from the past can learn all about the club and what it offers at the MCCI website (http://www.mustangclubofcentraliowa.org/). The site provides a “What's New?” page, upcoming events, meeting dates and locations, membership details, car show information, past event photo galleries, and more.
