ISCA ... governing top car shows in the United States and Canada
Founded in 1962 and incorporated in 1963, the International Show Car Association (ISCA) is the governing body for the largest groups of indoor car shows in the United States and Canada.
ISCA regulates about 40 shows per year and covers 27 states, which range from Phoenix, Ariz., to Atlanta, Ga., to Boston, Mass., ISCA's headquarters is located in Auburn Hills, Mich.
Each car show offers a wonderland of colors, styles and models for hot rod fans to enjoy. Over 350 classes are available for members; classes for motorcycles, custom cars and hot rods are covered. About 150,000 spectators show up for the large events and about 20,000 for small events.
Whether attending a small or large show, guests get to see the best of the best. ISCA's policy for the points system requires that participants also attend the small events, not just the large ones. So, every event is equal in vehicle quality.
Six categories are available for each show: Custom, Street Machine, Bike, Truck, Rod and Restored. Each category has a "best vehicle" chosen for every show. Traditional hot rods are allowed in many of the shows as well, giving spectators a wide variety of show cars to observe.
Car show giveaways
ISCA is hardly reserved with its prize giveaways. Both car owners and participants have a chance of winning tremendous prizes at every event. Over $300,000 in cash and prizes are given to car owners at ISCA events each year, and over $750,000 is given away to participants. Participants are also given travel expense money for attending the shows.
Car show promotions
Every event is publicized through many different types of media such as the local newspapers, hot rod and racing magazines, and television ads and programs about the car shows.
The television shows are broadcast in Dallas and Houston, Texas, Detroit, Mich., New Orleans, La., and Kansas City, Mo. All the publicity results in thousands of attendees ready to tour some of the most amazing hot rods on the planet.
World of Wheels and Autorama events
Two of the most frequent and popular events in the United States are governed by ISCA: World of Wheels and Autorama. ISCA does not organize or promote these events, but it does establish the rules for judging and competing in them. It also regulates several other smaller events each year.
