Muscle car fans unite at the Trans Am Club of America (GSC), Inc. of Fair Oaks, California

When Pontiac released its Firebird, muscle cars like the Mustang, Camaro and R/T were already going strong on the market. Pontiac set out to produce a car that could compete nose-to-nose with other muscle cars and capture the eyes of buyers. So in 1969, a new version of the Firebird was released - the Trans Am.

Equipped with either a powerful Ram Air III 400-cubic-inch V-8 with 335 horsepower or a Ram Air IV with 345 horsepower, the Trans Am initially carried a 303 engine intended to qualify it for entry into SCCA's Trans-American Challenge Cup at the start. However, Pontiac changed gears (and engines) mid-production and offered the car as a powerful production model.

Trans Ams and other Pontiac Firebird models still live in the hearts of members at the Trans Am Club of America (GSC), Inc. of Fair Oaks, CA. Honoring Firebirds such as the Trans Am, Firehawks, GTAs, Formulas and Esprits is what the club's all about, and the members are able to share and show their cars with many others when they join.

About the club

The Trans Am Club of America (GSC), Inc. was founded in 1979. The "GSC" stands for Golden State Chapter. TACA (GSC) keeps its members busy with special events and gatherings, cruises, drag races and more. The club is dedicated to helping those with Firebird models to fully restore and enjoy their cars. Club members often find themselves in caravans of their favorite cars with TACA (GSC). They might drive along scenic beach routes or through the mountains and valleys of California. There's always plenty to do with these charming cars.
